The humpbacks just keep on coming.

Despite hordes of kayakers, boaters and paddleboarders, pods of humpback whales continue to feed on baitfish about Port San Luis.

The humpback whales drew thousands of tourists and local onlookers to Port San Luis on Wednesday, despite much of the county having gone back to school this week.

SLO News Day first wrote about the humpback whales feeding in Port San Luis between the piers in Avila Beach this past weekend, and while the local media has pretty much ignored the story (what, you expect your local media outlets to work weekends?), the national media picked up on it in a hurry … well, first thing Monday morning (sorry, they don’t work weekends either).
