Lee Johnson to lead City’s economic development
After conducting a national search, the City of San Luis Obispo has selected its next economic development manager. Lee Johnson, who most recently served as the president/CEO of Mainstream Energy, comes to the job with 25 years of diverse local and international business experience. Johnson, who will begin the role on Aug. 26, spent 18 years working with global container shipping giant A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, where he was responsible for all Latin American operations and more than 5,000 employees. In 2008, his family relocated permanently to the Central Coast and he began working for local business consulting firm Collaboration LLC, before joining Mainstream Energy, parent company of REC Solar. A Leadership SLO (Class XX) graduate, Johnson currently serves on the boards of directors for Leadership SLO and the SLO County YMCA and sits on the Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee for SLOCOG. Johnson will report to Assistant City Manager Michael Codron.
