United Way of San Luis Obispo County held its Annual Recognition Event on June 12th at The Monday Club in San Luis Obispo and honored several local businesses and individuals for their contributions to the community and to United Way. The following awards were presented:

Community Spirit Award- Office Max: Stuff the Bus partnership
Emerging Leader Awards Cal Poly internship team:

  • Melissa Denman, 2-1-1 Resource Specialist
  • Jenna Emadzadeh, Early Learning Specialist
  • Amanda Gimenez, Early Learning Specialist
  • Volunteer of the Year Lily Aanerud, Imagination Library and Early Learning Volunteer and donor

Certificates of recognition were presented to the recipients of the Community Member Awards from the offices of Congresswoman Lois Capps, Senator Bill Monning, Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian and the County Board of Supervisors.

Also honored was outgoing Youth Board president, Karaline Bridgeford, of San Luis High School.

United Way of San Luis Obispo County is very thankful for the sponsors for this event that allowed us to thank and recognize our supporters and volunteers. The major sponsor was Primary Residential Mortgage. The music was donated by Bob & Wendy, wine was donated by Cerro Caliente, beer was donated by Ninkasi Brewing and coffee was donated by Blackhorse Espresso & Bakery.
